The Sony XBR10 series and the 52″ Sony KDL52XBR10 model is the flagship offering of the Bravia hdtvs released in 2009, and offer some never before seen features and technology, as well as some of the nicest picture quality and performance seen yet out of a Bravia LED LCD. Surprisingly it is a side lit unit, where most expected a local-dimming model, but although it does use this edge led lighting, it still has amazing picture quality, uniformity, fluidity and overall visual ability.

The 52″ XBR10 Bravia KDL-52XBR10 LED LCD is amazingly thin and sleek, with a new wireless 1080p media receiver which does a great job at transferring media without hiccups allowing for the insanely thin depth and form factor. All of the latest and top end HDTV technology of 2009 is present inside this surprisingly thin package, with 240Hz motion flow, internet video and widgets, Bravia engine 3 and much more 2009 first high end features.

The major current downside to the Sony Bravia KDLXBR10 series is its price… with a rather large launch price and limited size options (only available in the 46″ KDL 46XBR10 and 52″ KDL 52XBR10 sizes) for an edge-lit LED, its adoption rate may be slower while prices begin to drop after launch.

There are not that many Sony KDL52XBR10 reviews and reports online as of yet, but below are a few links to amazon.com where customer Sony kdl-52xbr10 review comments and ratings will surely pour in soon, especially if the pricing of the unit drops from its launch price in the near future: (more…)

The Sony KDL52XBR9 television is the 52″ flagship offering of all of Sony’s Bravia LCD television’s released in 2009, and stands above the crowd with its superior picture quality and performance, new and innovative features and internet add-ons and all around entertainment and quality value. The 52″ Bravia KDL52XBR9 LCD TV features brand new 240Hz MotionFlow technology for some of the best handling of action and quick moving pixels, a common area that LCDs lack in and utilizes an awesome WCG-CCFL backlighting system with new and advanced engines and algorithms for some of the best visual quality around. See below to compare the KDL52XBR9 vs similar 52″ LCD offerings currently on the market and to read some owner Bravia KDL-52XBR9 reviews and ratings:

Compare Sony KDL-52XBR9 vs…

Comparing the Sony KDL-52XBR9 vs KDL-52Z5100 LCD and the Z5100, the models just below the XBR9 line, the major difference lies in the KDLXBR9’s usage of a WCG-CCFL backlight system that allows for much better picture quality. Stepping down the line from the Z5100 to the W5100 series and the 52″ Bravia KDL-52W5100 LCD unit, the major downgrades are the loss of new 240Hz technology and slight decreases to contrast ratio and other factors, instead having the inferior 120Hz refresh rate; resulting in poorer handling of action and rapid image changes and a slightly reduced picture quality and performance. Further down the line in the V5100 series and the 52″ Bravia KDL52V5100 the main downgrades are the reduction of picture quality and contrast, loss of new Bravia engine 3, and the removal of the entire new internet features such as streaming content and Bravia widgets. The S5100 series and 52″ 1080p KDL-52S5100 LCD bring up the bottom of the pack as the entry level 1080p lcd from Sony… having 60Hz refresh rate, noticeably reduced picture quality and removal of several other features to make it a budget friendly entry level unit

The Sony KDL40Z5100 LCD TV is a 40″ model in the prestigious Z5100 series. It features brand new features like Internet widgets and content alongside new Bravia Engine 3 and high-end tech to make for one of the best looking and most well rounded entertainment units available. MotionFlow 240Hz sets the 40″ Sony KDL40Z5100 LCD HDTV apart from its siblings in the lower end of the spectrum while the slightly more expensive XBR9 models get a new backlight system that allows for improved picture quality. Read KDL40Z5100 reviews and feedback below and compare differences between the KDL-40Z5100 and similar 40-inch LCDs below:

Compare Sony KDL40Z5100 vs…

Comparing the Sony KDL40Z5100 vs the KDL40XBR9 the major difference lies in picture quality and realism. The KDL-40XBR9 and KDLXBR9 utilizes a superior backlight technology and image color processing that allows the XBR9 to have improved visual performance.

Stepping down to the W5100 series and the Bravia KDL40W5100 the major downgrade lies in the loss of brand new 240Hz refresh rate Motion Flow technology and downgrades to overall picture quality and contrast ratio. With 120Hz MotionFlow the KDLW5100 has reduced image performance particularly in fast moving scenes and has a noticeably less realistic picture.

Further down the line is the V5100 series and the KDL40V5100 40-inch LCD. The major losses from the W5100 series include the removal of the new internet, multimedia and content features found on the 3 more expensive series. Bravia Engine 3 is also absent and alongside reduced contrast ratio and some slightly smaller differences gives the KDLV5100 and 40V5100 a reduced image quality

At the bottom of Sony’s 1080p HDTV offerings is the S5100 and the KDL40S5100 LCD HDTV. It has all the downgrades mentioned in the above paragraph and also reverts back to 60Hz refresh down from 120Hz and 240Hz on the more expensive models. Other big differences include a loss of connectivity ability with 3 HDMI as opposed to all of the others 4 HDMI ports and many other slight differences that keep the KDLS5100 series cheap for shoppers on a budget.

Stepping up from the S5100 series to the KDL-52V5100 52″ LCD the most important upgrades include slightly improved picture quality, a doubling of the refresh rate from 60Hz to 120Hz and a greater level of connectivity.

Stepping up again to the W5100 series and the KDL-52W5100 52″ LCD, picture quality and contrast ratio again is increased with a new Bravia Engine 3 making its first appearance and making big gains in quality and performance. Upgrading further to the KDL-Z5100 series and the 52″ KDL-52Z5100, you start to hit the high end of the spectrum. The main addition over the W5100 on the Z5100 is MotionFlowRefresh Rate is pushed up the an astonishing 240Hz and picture quality and performance are truly astounding compared to the lower end.

At the very top of the line is the Sony KDL52XBR9 52″ LCD and the KDL-XBR9 series. It has all of the high-end features of the Z5100 models and takes picture quality a step further with its new backlighting and software additions. Live color creation tech along with WCG-CCFL backlighting allow the XBR9 to have the absolute best picture quality of the current Bravia LCD HDTVs.

The Sony KDL-XBR9 Series is the company’s flagship line up of LCD televisions in 2009, and offers some massive performance improvements and lots of new and innovative features over its predecessors the KDL-XBR8 and KDL-XBR7. One thing to note is that when you compare the Sony XBR9 vs. XBR8 & XBR7 that it is a little confusing. It would seem that the XBR9 is a direct upgrade to the KDLXBR8, however the Bravia XBR8 hdtvs used LED technology and as such the KDLXBR9 series should be looked at as the progression of the KDLXBR7 units.
