Samsung’s LED precision dimming technology is a name coined for Samsung’s new integration of backlighting in its C8000 LED and C6800 LED series models. It merges the best of both its local dimming and edge-lit LED LCD technologies to offer shoppers a more cost effective solution than full array local dimming, with major picture quality increases over edge-lit tech.
What is Precision Dimming on Samsung LED TVS
Combining the benefits and best of both edge-lit and control of of local dimming, Samsung’s UNC8000 precison dimming technology uses an improved array of LEDs that illuminate in controlled diamond-shaped areas for an improved picture quality over tradional edge-lit models. The diamond coned shaped areas of light can be more precise in intensity and range and combined with improved algorithms make for the best picture performance seen on an LED LCD short of full array locally dimmed panels, while be much cheaper for the consumer.
Precision dimming vs edge-lit LED LCDs
Using more LEDs and in a much more controlled and precise fashion allows precision dimmed units to have much more natural and true to life images compared vs edge-lit models, although it is slightly more expensive to obtain this.
Precision Dimming vs Local Dimming:
Complete localized dimming will always have the picture quality and performance over HDTVs using less LEDs, but this special kind of illumination closes the gap quite a bit on picture quality difference while offering shoppers a much cheaper alternative.

Samsung UN55C800 Review
Decided upon the Samsung UN55C800 LED after spending a painful amount of time researching and reading reviews on the best television with the features we want for the best price. We were a little bit worried the high end price might make us regret our decision, but after only a week of owning the Samsung 55-inch C8000 3D model we know we made the best absolute choice.
Picture Quality on UN-55C8000:
The picture clarity on the Samsung UN-55C8000 is amazing. We are coming from a 3 year old plasma from Panasonic and honestly the UNC8000 3D LED just blows it out of the water. Black levels, screen uniformity and 240Hz refresh rate really make the UN-55C8000 stand out in big ways over other sets and so satisfied with the picture quality on the 8 series LED.
3D content on UN55C8000:
We haven’t watched too much 3D content just yet as it still seems to be getting more and more popular as a native content type, but what we have seen out of the UN55C8000′s 3D capabilities has been nothing short of remarkable. The 2D-3D upconversion on the Samsung UN55C8000 LED LCD works well and watching some old movies in this new way made for an awesome experience.
Design of Samsung 55C8000:
It really astonishes us at how the place so much technology into such a thin frame. Its less than an inch thick and packs so much punch its really hard to comprehend. Overal styling is really amazing and the colors, stand, thinness and overall appearance of the Samsung C8000 LED HDTVs is amazing.
Internet features of UN55C800:
Was expecting too much here but have recently become addicted to all the extra things you can download and use the Samsung UN55C800 for beyond just movies and television. Definitely makes the big price tag more worth it with the feeling that your 55C8000 will constantly have more and more things to do as time goes on and you discover fun and useful internet connected applications

Samsung UN46C800 Review
The Samsung UN46C800 LED 3D HDTV is simply a stunning piece of work. I was originally going to wait for prices on the higher end C9000 model to drop, but ultimately decided on the Samsung UN46C8000 after reading some awesome C8000 LED series reviews and noting the price decrease. The Samsung UN-46C8000 actually has pretty much the same technology as the 46C9000 minus a few things like the touch screen remote and overall design, but for the price difference I would say that the Samsung C8000 3D televisions are a much better deal and I wish I would have upgraded to the 55-inch Samsung UN55C8000 8 series for still a better price than the 46-inch UNC9000 model.
After having used my Samsung 46C8000 3D LED for quite some time now, I would have to say that it has the best picture quality of any HDTV I have seen in stores and at friends homes. Pin point dimming seems to give the Samsung UNC8000 series a marked advantage over all other technologies and makes the more expensive local dimming option not as attractive on a per cost basis.
The Samsung UN-46C8000 3D HDTV is loaded with tons of features I’ve never seen or heard of on any previous televisions, and I’m thoroughly enjoying learning and taking advantage of all the applications, content, media and internet features it brings to the table. Samsung Apps should bring many people on board with the 2010 Samsung LED LCD HDTVs as more and more applications and gadgets are developed for the C8000 LEDS and other HDTV lines from Samsung supporting the AppStore.
I have read many 5 star Samsung UN46C800 reviews already, and am more than happy to leave yet another perfect score for this amazing LED LCD television!
