• Reports of white dots sometimes popping up near the top of the screen are reported in more than a few instances, apparently they not too bad, only last a fraction of time, but annoying nonetheless some state.
• Remote could be improved, there is no backlight (lighting up of keys) where most HDTVs have this feature now and is great for in the dark viewing.
• Stand lacks range of motion for turning and adjustment, many sets nowadays of good swivel stands whereas Sony’s v series does not
• Sound although improved upon is not very good, many people dislike watching such brilliant 1080p HD content that makes the sound seem dull. A sound system really brings this TVs display quality to life some have said after having added home theatre 5.1 speakers afterwards.
• If you are a video game player, frequently watch movies, or are a hardcore sports watcher, you might want to step up to the Sony Bravia W Series (40 inch KDL40W4100 | 46 inch KDL46W4100 | 52 inch KDL52W4100 available) or the high end Z series (Only available in 40 & 46 inch sizes KDL40Z4100 & KDL46Z4100 respetively) for the 120hz image smoothing. It can make a large difference in the above 3 genres as ghosting or lag of the image through fast action will be noticeable.

I researched for months before purchasing the Sony KDL-40V4100 and am glad I decided on this set. Other sets I looked at were the Samsung LN-40A550 and Panasonic TC-37LZ800.

Overall the picture has very good black levels (without compromising shadow detail), clear whites, and vibrant colors. The only major flaws are “flashlighting” near the corners of the screen and an annoying backlight dimming (even with the Advanced Contrast Enhancer disabled). However, these are only really noticeable during completely black scenes and have not bothered me during regular viewing.

Sound: 5 of 5
The sound is loud and clear considering the small size of the speakers and the S-Force Front Surround actually works well. This set is much better than my previous Samsung LCD which had weak sound and created an annoying echo at times.

I bought this TV on May 28th from CC. So far I am completely satisfied with the TV. It has the legendry Sony Picture quality Tag and it truly delivers upto its name. Lots of reviewers talk about the Sound Quality but I foud that it is way better than other Samsung and LG/Sharp. The S Surround sound is exceptional. “Completely Satisfied with this TV” Sony KDL-40v4100 By cat lover

I just purchased this TV and I am completely satisfied with it. I struggled between this model and the Samsung LN40A550 and I am very happy I went with the Sony despite the higher price.
