Reviews of Sony's KDL-52W4100.. 52" W series Bravia

Sony’s KDL-52W4100 (52inch w series) LCD television has been flying up the charts this week, and has overtaken the slightly less potent younger brother, the KDL52V4100 (V series… removes 120hz most notably) as the most purchased and buzzed about LCD television in the 52″ class on many shopping platforms around the web. The Sony Bravia KDL-52W4100 hasn’t been out for all that long, and as such there isn’t a huge amount of Sony KDL52W4100 reviews and expert reports in magazines and on the web to go by at the moment, but of the 30 or so customer reviews and reports I have read, there are many similarities, with the most common similarity being customer and user reporting it as a fantastic deal, a solid performer, and giving it top tier scores in all aspects of HDTV critique.

Sony KDL-52W4100 Pros common to many reviews:

Below are not all the pros or strengths of Sonys KDL 52W4100, only that which are common across many customers’ reports and reviews of the Sony Bravia W4100 series:

  • Breath Taking picture quality, black levels very good for LCD
  • Simple (yet powerful) and intuitive controls & interface
  • Great viewing angles and great anti-glare as compared to similar sets
  • Gorgeous Bezel, Stand, Finish and general aesthetics
  • Tons of connections, 4x HDMI ports, much better connect ivy
  • Good performance to dollar when looking at similar choices

Sony KDL-52W4100 Cons common to many reviews:

Although cons are never as consistently noted as cons, there are a few common weaknesses of the KDL-52W4100 LCD TV pointed out on some reviews of the Bravia 52W4100 as areas that need improvement:

  • Sound Quality and volume isn’t as strong as rest of unit
  • Many people love the controls, a few state them as weak, leave it up to personal taste I guess
  • A bit expensive… Well this one is said somewhere on every product I guess, certain people feel that the KDL52W4100 was expensive and would go with a non 120hz to save some money

“Excellent LCD with overall ease of use” sony kdl52w4100 By M. Moreno “IpodL”

I bought this TV in June 2008 and have found it to be an absolutely great buy. I bought my at RC Willey. Yes, I read the CNET review and the reviewer marked down the TV because of the dark shades changing. I looked at this in the store for several minutes and have lived with it for a month and have not noticed that problem at ALL! Personally I think they guy shot down the SONY because Samsung is running TV advertisements on CNET. This is a super sharp TV with excellent colors and deep deep blacks. This TV is much better than the old 2007 W. Here is why I bought this TV…It is super clear in digital broadcast and does a much better job in…

“Very good HDTV with incredible details” kdl52w4100 By H. Tong “diverhank”

My first impression after I first turned it on was WOW! The picture is so beautiful and bright so you can watch easily during the day. You can set the option for the TV to auto-adjust using ambient light which works very well. Watching previously seen DVDs via the this TV is like watching brand new movies…this I compared against watching on a 1080i 37″ non-Sony HDTV that …

“Beautiful” kdl52w4100 TV By Matt_Foley

I’ve had the tv for about two weeks now and it has been great. The HD picture is amazing of course, my SD programs look great and Blu-ray movies are virtually flawless. I moved up from a 42″ Plasma, which has been a great tv. The LCD is definitely brighter in my very open living room. I chose this over the Samsung 52″ 650 model. While the Samsung has a slightly brighter screen and Consumer Reports loves the tv, it’s very…

“Great investment” kdl52w4100 LCD By Dr Watson

I have had this TV for 2 months now and could not be happier. This set produces excellent picture quality, amazing black levels and vibrant colors. The new Bravia Engine 2 also improves with 120Hz motion processing from Sony XBR4 line. My TV is located in a well lit room so the semi-matte display was a must. This TV delivers many useful settings to let you have the full freedom of making this TV truly yours. The PQ on 1080p material such as blu-ray movies or games is phenomenal. Broadcasted 1080i/720p HD sources look…

“Great TV” kdl52w4100 HDTV By Chas “ctchas”

Obviously you’ve gotta shop and compare various manufacturers to formulate your own opinion. I did that, went to various stores and compared side by side. I feel this Sony, if not the best, then certainly should rank up there with the best. The picture (HD) is near perfect. The non-glare screen works out very nice since it’s in a brightly lit room. The on-screen menus are easy to use and when you pair it up to other Sony equipment (say a A/V receiver and Blueray DVD) the controls are flawless. Amazons price guarantee worked very well too. I received…
