Samsung LN52A550 Review

“Perfect LCD TV in every way so far…”

I’ve been looking forward to getting a top of the line HDTV for what seems like years now, and after finally paying off some debt about a month ago, I decided it was time to buy a nice new big 1080p as a treat for myself and the family. I looked over a lot of televisions, and after seeing and reading through plenty of Samsung’s LN52A550 LCD reviews and articles, I decided that this would be the television that I had been hoping for hands down. There were a few others options that I considered, slightly older Sharp and Toshiba LCDs, but when I side by side compared the LN52A550 with those and read reviews from them all, the Samsung was the obvious choice to make and seemed to have both better and more up-to-date specs, as well as offering a cheaper price (a major plus as I wanted something big and not too too expensive, hence why I didn’t go with either the Samsung LN52A650 6 series unit, or the Samsung LN52A750 7 series lcd, they offered nicer technology, but I really loved the lower price on the LN-52-A550 series 5)

Great price and awesome delivery of LN 52A550 HDTV…

One thing that was really cool and I didn’t expect even after reading every single Samsung LN52A550 Review on Amazon, where I decided to buy the LN52A550 because of major price savings over the local Best Buy and consumer electronics stores, was all the benefits of the shipping company, Eagle, Amazon uses for their big ticket HDTV shipping. They actually called my house shortly before they arrived, earlier than expected btw, and then came in, unpacked the TV, and set it all up for me, they even sat there and helped me go over some stuff, put the batteries in the remote and talked with me about the unit, and gave me a major good impression on the whole delivery system, which I was kind of uneasy about in the first place but never again. Incredibly professional, helpful, on time and much better then I could’ve ever have expected, two thumbs up to Eagle and Amazon on the whole delivery part of my Samsung LN52A550 review report :D

LN52A550 HDTV’s impeccable picture quality…

Console games from PS3, and both original and XBOX 360 look incredibly detailed and painfully better then my old POS television, it would be a major bummer and intolerable to play another next gen system game, or watch a normal DVD again on a non-HD, small screen after I have now experienced what a difference a large high quality LCD TV can make. Blu-Ray really is incredible now that I can actually take advantage of my PS3’s blue-ray capabilities, I had never watched a HD-DVD or BR movie before, but I surely didn’t expect it to be this crisp, clear and detailed… Like I said watching a normal DVD movie probably will never be the same now that I have witnessed 1080p on the LN52A550 Samsung 52 inch TV.

Samsung’s LN52A550 Sound??

Didn’t really play with the internal sound on the 52A550 too much, as I quickly setup my newer sound system/receiver for watching my first BR movie, but what I did use of it, it sounded a whole lot better than my old crappy televisions onboard sound and speakers, perhaps I’ll report back in a follow up LN52A550 review here after I have used this television more, and resist the urge to turn on the sound system and really critique its internal speakers.

Settings & Calibrating Samsung LN-52A550:

A lot of reviewers talk about how to setup and calibrate the Samsung ln52a550 settings to get an even better picture, but I haven’t really played around or researched that too much as of yet either, as I found the straight out of the box settings to be pretty amazing in themselves, but I think I will look up optimal settings and calibration options online right after I finish writing this, because I’m curious how much better it could truly get with all the right tweaking of menus and options if others keep talking about it, again I will probably drop by and leave a follow up comment/review to let others know what kind of difference one can expect from standard settings to optimal calibrated settings.

Perfect rating for the Samsung LN52A550 LCD…

I would have to and will give this amazing television a perfect score, as it truly is magnificent and is a much appreciated upgrade, and was quite a steal of a deal for the price I paid online at Amazon. Picture perfect literally, great everything I have played with so far, incredible price compared to what I expected to pay for such a large new HDTV, awesome delivery and just overall I M P R E S S I V E!!!! Good work Samsung, I think I will be a Sam Fan Club member for quite some time to come now till other companies learn to provide awesome products at a similar price as you guys!
